Exploitation of WazirX Hack with Phishing Scams

After the breach on July 18, hackers exploited the situation by sending phishing emails pretending to be from WazirX. The email claimed that users affected by the hack would receive compensation in the form of a new token called WZA. Users like Aditya Chakraborty identified the email as fake and potentially a scam.

Crypto expert Sumit Gupta advised users to stay alert, verify emails, and check website links for authenticity to avoid falling victim to such scams.

Initiating a Bounty Program for Asset Recovery

WazirX CEO Nischal Shetty outlined steps to recover the stolen assets, including assessing the security breach and working with experts to trace the stolen funds. The exchange is collaborating with other platforms and preparing to launch a bounty program to enlist experts in recovering the stolen assets, providing a financial reward for successful retrieval.
