The Cardano community has concluded the voting process for the Interim Constitutional Committee (ICC), which is responsible for maintaining the interim Constitution and overseeing early governance decisions on the Cardano blockchain.
Successful Election Outcome
A total of 21 candidates from diverse backgrounds applied for positions on the ICC. The election witnessed active participation, with over 455 million ADA tokens staked and 1,947 unique votes cast. The transparent, ranked-choice voting system allowed community members to elect their top three representatives.
The elected committees are as follows:
Cardano Atlantic Council: Secured 51.4% of the votes with 232,162,950,759,731 Lovelace. The council comprises six members from various countries.
Cardano Japan: Received 18.7% of the votes, consisting of all Japanese members.
Eastern Cardano Council: Attained 10.3% of the votes with a multi-national group of members.
Alternate members include individuals and entities to ensure continuity in governance in case the top three councils are unable to fulfill their roles.
CEO of NMKR, Patrick Tobler, expressed confidence in the newly elected committee members, highlighting the community’s trust in the democratic process.
Intersect will commence the onboarding process for the elected members and is also seeking applications for its Constitutional Council to further diversify representation in governance.
The development of Cardano’s final Constitution is set to begin in August, with workshops globally leading to a Constitutional Convention in Buenos Aires in December, shaping the governance framework for the Voltaire era.
