The market for digital asset investments has experienced a notable uptick lately, indicating a robust recovery in cryptocurrency funds. According to a recent report by CoinShares, there was a significant influx of $321 million into crypto investment products last week.
This rebound comes after two weeks of outflows, suggesting a change in investor attitudes, influenced largely by macroeconomic factors like the recent interest rate cut by the US Federal Reserve.
Increased Interest in Bitcoin and Solana
According to the findings published by CoinShares, investment products related to Bitcoin have captured the majority of the inflows.
Specifically, Bitcoin-related products attracted net inflows of $284 million last week. This represents a significant turnaround for Bitcoin, which has consistently drawn in more institutional investment than other cryptocurrencies.
Notably, short-Bitcoin products—which gain value when Bitcoin prices drop—also had a minor inflow of $5.1 million, indicating that some investors remain cautious and are looking to protect against potential price swings.
In addition, Solana funds have performed admirably, racking up $3.2 million in net inflows last week.
While Bitcoin and Solana are enjoying a surge, Ethereum products are facing ongoing challenges, experiencing yet another week of outflows.
The CoinShares report indicates that Ethereum products faced outflows totaling $29 million last week, marking a fifth straight week of losses, which adds up to $187.7 million in outflows for the period.
Regional Insights into Crypto Flows
In terms of geographic trends, the US leads the crypto investment scene, with American funds seeing $277 million in net inflows.
Switzerland was next, bringing in $63 million—its highest inflows in recent weeks—while nations like Germany, Sweden, and Canada experienced net outflows, creating a varied landscape in global crypto investment.
James Butterfill, head of research at CoinShares, noted that the rise in Bitcoin and Solana’s inflows owed much to recent shifts in US monetary policy, particularly the Federal Open Market Committee’s “more dovish stance” and a 50-basis-point interest rate reduction.
This softer monetary policy has created a more conducive environment for higher-risk assets, such as cryptocurrencies, leading to increased global inflows into digital asset investments.
As a result of these positive inflows, Bitcoin’s market performance has improved noticeably, with BTC trading above the crucial $60,000 mark. At the time of this writing, Bitcoin is priced at $62,775, experiencing a slight decline of 1.1% within the past day.
This price increase has also uplifted Bitcoin’s market capitalization from around $1.15 trillion last week to over $1.25 trillion now.
