Mishaboar, a prominent influencer within the Dogecoin community, has issued an urgent alert for DOGE investors. He warns that those who don’t recover their private keys from the now-defunct Dogechain.info platform could lose their entire investment.
Last Chance for Dogecoin Investors to Secure Keys
On November 18, Mishaboar shared a crucial update in an X (formerly Twitter) post, emphasizing the risk of losing Dogecoin holdings if users do not download their private keys from Dogechain.info, a popular Dogecoin wallet in recent years.
He mentioned that Dogechain.info ceased operations in July 2024 due to bankruptcy, raising questions among users regarding the retrieval of their private keys.
Back in June 2024, the platform had announced its shutdown, urging users to transfer their DOGE tokens and secure their private keys promptly. For many, this wallet was a primary means of storing and managing Dogecoin investments for years.
The closure has now created a critical situation for Dogecoin holders. Mishaboar has set December 31 as the final deadline for downloading keys from the Dogechain.info website.
He cautioned that missing this deadline would mean losing access to coins, as private keys are essential for managing crypto wallets and retrieving funds. Mishaboar has reported receiving numerous emails from individuals who previously used Dogechain and are seeking help to recover their wallets, emphasizing that without backed-up keys, recovery options are limited.
Investors should act swiftly and utilize the “Wallet Backup” feature on the Dogecoin.info website to download and securely store their private keys offline. For those facing difficulties with the site’s two-factor authentication, Mishaboar advises reaching out to the wallet provider for appropriate support.
Watch Out for Phishing Scams
While encouraging investors to secure their keys, Mishaboar also highlighted the rise of phishing scams affecting the DOGE community. He warned users to exercise caution and stick to the official site, Dogecoin.info.
Mishaboar pointed out that similarly named domains, such as “Dogechain.com,” have been linked to phishing attempts aimed at stealing users’ private information and keys.
