Ethereum 2025: Insights and Projections from Industry Experts

Ethereum Predictions 2025

Anthony Sassano, a well-known figure in the Ethereum community and the founder of The Daily Gwei, recently shared his expectations for Ethereum in 2025 on X.

Ethereum Expectations for 2025

This year marks the 10th anniversary of Ethereum, and Sassano predicts that by the end of 2025, Ether (ETH) could hit a price of $15,000. He foresees a wave of institutional investment, with ETH Exchange-Traded Funds (ETFs) potentially drawing in more than $50 billion in new capital. Moreover, he believes that the Trump administration will approve applications for staked ETH ETFs, which will greatly boost interest.

In terms of development, Sassano expects an uptick in traditional finance (TradFi) entities engaging with Ethereum. He anticipates that significant players in TradFi, such as BlackRock, will establish a layer 2 tokenized real-world asset platform on Ethereum.

Sassano also emphasizes the role of governments in his predictions, suggesting that several countries will disclose their ETH holdings as part of their national reserves. He stated, “Multiple nation states reveal that they hold ETH as a treasury asset.”

Technically, he forecasts the Pectra update to be deployed around March or April 2025, which will involve enhancements that will lead to a temporary saturation of resources. Following this, he considers the Fusaka update in 2026 to be the most significant advancement in Ethereum’s history. He also predicts an increase in the mainnet gas limit to at least 50 million, improving transaction capacity.

Sassano’s outlook also includes promising advancements in Layer 2 (L2) technologies. He expects the launch of high-efficiency L2 solutions such as MegaETH and Rise, which could surpass current leading Layer 1 (L1) networks. He also believes that Arbitrum One will become the first major rollup to achieve stage 2 decentralization, with other rollups reaching stage 1.

Additionally, he predicts that Base will emerge as a separate entity from Coinbase, with plans for its token and further decentralization. Sassano explained that Base has gained considerable traction and would benefit from operating independently while still receiving support from Coinbase, allowing for greater adaptability to regulatory challenges.

He foresees a rollup from Base entering the top five in terms of Total Value Locked (TVL) and expects a notable optimistic rollup to transition into a zk rollup.

Infrastructure improvements play a vital role in Sassano’s forecast. He expects the total amount of ETH moved into L2 solutions to surpass 10 million, contributing to the network’s scalability. Additionally, he believes that AI-driven applications will remain a focal point throughout 2025.

In conclusion, Sassano expressed optimism for Ethereum’s future, asserting, “As Ethereum turns 10 in 2025, I’m confident it will be the most bullish year yet! Ethereum serves as the global computer; ETH is currency.”

As of now, ETH is valued at $3,415.
