What’s Next For Shiba Inu? Inside The 2024/2025 Shibarium Roadmap

Shiba Inu Shibarium Roadmap

As the Shiba Inu ecosystem continues to expand, its upcoming developments for the years 2024 and 2025 are drawing considerable attention from both investors and participants within the ecosystem. Lucie, the Shiba Inu marketing lead, outlined the roadmap for Shibarium through a post on X, detailing several key initiatives that promise to enhance and broaden the project’s scope within the next 2 years. Here’s a breakdown of each of these initiatives:

#1 ShibaSwap (version 1.75 followed by 2.0)

ShibaSwap, the decentralized exchange (DEX) that supports the Shiba Inu ecosystem, is set to undergo significant updates with the release of versions 1.75 and 2.0. These updates are expected to introduce enhanced features for trading, liquidity provision, and turn ShibaSwap into a fully functional gateway portal, where users can track news, charts and data.

Version 1.75 will likely serve as a transitional update preparing for the more substantial changes envisioned in 2.0. Just recently, SHIB lead developer Shytoshi Kusama teased via the official Telegram channel, ““Pretty soon. 1.75 first.” Regarding ShibaSwap 2.0, he added, “That’s when the fun begins. But had to make frens first.”

#2 Shiba Hub

Shiba Hub is anticipated to be a new platform within the ecosystem, though specific details about its functionality remain limited. It is speculated to serve as a hub for the community, integrating various services and features that are part of the Shiba Inu ecosystem. This could potentially include forums, educational content, and direct integrations with other Shiba Inu services such as the SHIB: The Metaverse.

In a September 2023 post, Lucie remarked that Shibahub won’t be “just another app” but “a gateway to something extraordinary.” She added, “Imagine being part of a community that is revolutionizing the way we connect, share, and create. With Shiba Hub, you have the opportunity to be at the forefront of innovation, to be part of something that will leave a lasting impact.”

#3 TREAT Token

The introduction of the TREAT token marks a significant enhancement within the Shiba Inu ecosystem. TREAT will not only serve as an ecosystem reward token to incentivize staking and liquidity pool participation, but also as a dual-purpose governance and gas token on Shibarium’s upcoming Layer 3 blockchain.

This critical role will allow TREAT to facilitate transactions and user interactions with decentralized applications (dApps) on the platform. Additionally, holding TREAT grants users voting rights, empowering them to help shape the ecosystem’s development.

#4 ShibaEternity P2E

ShibaEternity is set to expand into the play-to-earn (P2E) gaming landscape. Building on the popularity of blockchain-based gaming, ShibaEternity will likely offer players the ability to earn rewards through gameplay, integrating these within the broader Shiba Inu token economy.

#5 SHIB: The Metaverse

“SHIB: The Metaverse” aims to establish a virtual reality platform where users can interact, trade, and engage in activities within a digital universe. This initiative reflects a growing trend among major cryptocurrency projects to create immersive VR experiences tied to their native tokens.

In April 2022, the Shiba Inu team initiated ‘land bids’ for SHIB: The Metaverse. Two years have passed since then, and SHIB: The Metaverse has yet to get a launch date.

#6 K9 Finance Liquid Staking

K9 Finance Liquid Staking represents a move towards more flexible staking solutions within the Shibarium network. This feature will allow SHIB token holders to stake their coins in a way that does not lock the tokens, enabling continued liquidity and participation in the market without sacrificing potential staking rewards.

#7 Shiba Inus Layer 3 Testnet

The introduction of a Layer 3 blockchain is set to start with a testnet phase in the third quarter of this year, followed by a mainnet launch contingent on rigorous testing and audits. This new layer aims to enhance transaction privacy through advanced cryptographic techniques, maintaining high speeds and low costs, while also ensuring regulatory compliance for auditable private transactions.

The rollout will also see the integration of the TREAT token, enhancing its utility as both a governance and a gas token, crucial for the operation and governance of the new Layer 3 blockchain.

#8 Fully Functional DAOs

The implementation of fully functional decentralized autonomous organizations (DAOs) for all tokens within the Shiba Ecosystem is another significant move towards decentralized governance for Shiba Inu. Lucie revealed, “Additionally, fully functional DAOs will be available for all tokens within the Shiba Ecosystem.”

Token holders will likely have the ability to propose, vote on, and implement changes within the ecosystem, enhancing community involvement and decision-making processes.

At press time, SHIB traded at $0.00002508.
